No Solutions for Democrats

If the country feels that border security is critical, then the Democrats either need to 1) clearly disprove that the current system doesn't contribute to illegal immigration or crime, or 2) create a detailed plan of their own to improve border security. There are no other reasonable options, yet they continue to do neither. If a wall isn't feasible, then come up with something that is. The cost doesn't matter, just take it from the military budget.

The failure of the democrats has led to the inevitable crisis, which is that Trump will shut down the government (or hold the country hostage) until he gets what he wants. Shutting down the government will be very popular among his base that thinks the government is dysfunctional and should be diminished. I was shocked when he didn't do this last year.

Of course if Trump was smart, he would say "I'm getting out troops out of countries we should have never been in. With the money I saved, we can fund the wall.  America first."

Schumer should say, "The Democrats want real border security, not a ridiculous wall that will waste your tax money and not work. We have a detailed plan to use state-of-the-art American technology to secure our borders, while continuing to promote legal immigration."

That the current system doesn't contribute to illegal immigration or crime has been amply proven by the government's own statistics. Some level of illegal immigration is inevitable but the dangerous levels to which the president lays claim are simply made up. There were not 4000 terrorists trying to enter the country. That is just a flat out lie.

Where a physical barrier is feasible it has already been built. Democrats have talked about upgrading our technology to address illegal immigration on all fronts including by air and on the northern border where more drugs and smarter criminals cross.

The Democrats have talked about this, but they haven't submitted any sustainable plan. They haven't communicated in any meaningful way with people who want a wall. They are literally dismissing the feeling of half the country and they wonder why those people don't listen to them. The Democrats have control of the House, where is their alternative legislation. They have had years to work on it. It is terribly disappointing considering that if the Democrats gave a little, even if it was unnecessary, they could move the country towards some semblance of unity.

When the Supreme Court rules, they often struggle to understand the depth and meanings in some of the words or phrases in the Constitution. However, the Founders provided very clear language as to what they were trying to accomplish from a vision standpoint.
