Incremental Steps

10 Random thoughts on the 2nd round of Democratic Presidential Debates:
1) When they attach each other, they increase the chances of Trump using those same attacks against the eventual nominee. If getting Trump out of office is their #1 priority, than they have to play nice; however, it is not their priority (which is to get themselves prestige, power, or money)
2) When those are the far left attack Biden, I actually think it helps him among moderates and traditional Republicans.
3) Why can't major policy changes take place in increments instead of all at once.  Why not have Medicare-for-children first (as opposed to Medicare-for-all). Ask the country to try it and see how it goes.
4) The actual election will happen in reality, which includes the electoral college (which I am vehemently against). However, within this reality, any one candidate who doesn't provide a boost in swing states, just needs to step down. This includes all candidates from New York or California, sorry.
5) Why don't any of the candidates propose who will be in their cabinet. This is a great way to have a diverse ticket and build a super-team. What if they all stood together and Biden announced, "When I am elected President, I'll bring the best. VP-Pete Buttigieg, Attorney General Kamala Harris, Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Warren, Secretary of State Corey Booker, Secretary of Technology (new position), Andrew Yang, and so no.  So you get the best of everyone.
6) CNN was terrible. "Mr. Biden, the other candidates called you old and racist, can you respond that while starting a fight with each one of them?" The entire format was combative and didn't allow candidates to properly express themselves.
7)  Julián Castro said Biden hasn't learned from the past, to which Biden should have said, "Perhaps we are all not learning from the past. You know when the Democrats leaned so far left that they lost the moderates while motivating the far right, leading to the election of a racist, incompetent, con-artist. Let's learn from that and all come together around a moderate democrats who will bring honor back to this country."
8) Bernie Sanders needs an heir.  Somebody who is exactly like him, but 40 years younger. This is not only about elect-ability, but also the future of his philosophies.
9) Why remove private insurance? Offer Medicare-for-all (or some) and if people want to keep their current private coverage, they can. And after 4 years, re-evaluate.
10) Immigration plan. Step 1: Path to citizenship for people currently here (as of today). Step 2: The largest investment in boarder security in history. Step 3) Triple the number of legal immigrants allowed into the US each year. Step 4) Significant cash investments (including possible military support) to support other countries in Central and South America.  The candidates need to come up with a plan, that is palatable to the general public, and all support it.
