Free Shakespeare Tickets - Contest #3
My girlfriend and I have two extra tickets to Much Ado About Nothing in the park tonight (Saturday August 7). Since we thought selling free tickets was a little unethical, we decided to have a contest to see who needs them the most. So, if you are interested please go to http://danlipka.blogspot.com/ and post a comment that best describes why you want/need the tickets. The stories can be made up, but you have to specifically say if it is fictional (true stories carry more weight than fiction, but creativity is also a good thing). If you have any questions post them on the blog or email them to me. Tickets can be picked up on the upper east side or by the theater. Contest ends at 6:00 unless something changes, (well maybe at 5:30). Good Luck.
6:14 - It's all over. We have selected and contacted the winners. I’m sorry to all those who weren’t chosen, as you all were deserving of the tickets. To those couples that couldn’t get to go, I say to spend the night together, have a romantic picnic, and make sweet lovin all night long. For those looking for fun things so do, I suggest Rockfeller center (for conservative folks) or the lower east side (for those who are somewhat adventurous. And for those who continue to endure the unique smells of loved ones, may I suggest that you put the shotgun down, light some candles, open some windows, drink some wine, and party like is 1925.

I don't need the tix (already saw the show this week!) but I thought this was a great idea. It annoys me that people buy extra tickets and sell them when other people wait in line for 3+ hours and come away empty-handed. Good luck finding a worthy recipient :)
It is so nice to see that there are still good ppl in NYC. After a stdent who was selling last year for $ 200.00 dollars. OMG...Anyways, I cannot offer cause I do not have money (Just paid my school tuition in full 2 days ago)but I am a friendly person to be with (not that you you need a friend- but it would be nice to have somebody with an upbeat personality) .
I have to got back to my studies.. hopefully will hear from you..
Good Luck with your search!!
I'll send a seperate email just in case you want contact me..

Walking south on some avenue in Chelsea, I saw a mother screaming at her child. A small girl of 2 or 3. Not just screaming like "walk faster" but eerily manipulative, teasing her daughter. "all you do is talk to your brother.....". this mother had the maturity level of a 6 year old and it made me so nervous to see a child being talked to like that. the poor girl looked so confused and looked up at others who walked by.
I thought I was fucked up by emotionally absent parents. This poor girl. I imagined a gold light around her, tried to bless her. If I even had the power to do that.
The second mother I saw that day was on Avenue A waiting for the bus with two of her girls, one of them or maybe both must have been adopted. They looked too different to be syblings. "Sit on the steps until the bus comes. Do you have change for the bus?" The girls asked if this was the village and if Bloomberg was the mayor. The mother answered a call from a third daughter (adopted?) and finished the call with "I love you."
Fukashi cut my hair on Thursday morning at an upscale salon in Soho. He made is clear to me that he is very famous in Japan. Famous. He made it clear that no one in the salon was above him except for the owner. Conversation of Tokyo culture, the presence of the Japanese in Astoria and the East Village, shopping and cocktails turned personal. "You live alone?"
Saturday morning's New York Times, a coffee and a croissant, a French restaurant of authenticity on Avenue A. The waitor flirts with me for the second time. "You live alone?"
I'm a mother of two beautiful daughters and my husband and I don't get to do many things w/o the kids. This would be great on such a nice night. I live on the UES so I could pick it up. I'll just have to find a last minute babysitter. THanks. YS

You see, last night for dinner, we dined on the finest Mexico has to offer: Empanadas, Burritos, Enchildas, etc...Needless to say, my girlfriend was pumped full of beans, aka "the musical fruit". Much later, as we slept, the beans made themselves known. In combination with my girlfriend's Kodiak bear snoring, she unleashed wave after wave (indeed, veritable tsunamis) of devasting farts. Deafened by the snores and suffocated by the farts, I awoke in a daze and ran to the local 24 hour pharmacy. Upon my return, I crept to her slumbering, foul-smelling body and put an industrial strength garbage bag over her head. Then I sprayed her rear with "Crisp Linen" scented Lysol. Finally, I jammed her pajama bottoms full of potpourri-scented Glade.
Let's just say that when she was roused from her cacophonous sleep, she was less than pleased.
So, here I am at gunpoint in an apartment still rife with virulent farts as my girlfriend foams at the mouth. The only way out, she says, is to take her to see Much Ado About Nothing.
Sweet Mother of God, get me out of this stank apartment.

But me, well, I don't know if I deserve these tickets more than any other person whose posted in this blog. It's just that I would love to see the final show with my boyfriend, just so that we can continue the tradition that we started a few years ago with Shakespeare in the Park.

It's after 6, and anyway I wouldn't have been able to compete. But, this is great, I hope the people that won enjoy the evening. Now, at 7:15, it is a perfect evening for a summer theatre production. I wish I was there!
